Thames & Spring Streetscape Improvements Project

Welcome to the Thames and Spring Streetscape Improvements Project website

This website outlines the purpose and goals of this project, contact information, resources about the planning concepts that will be used, and, most importantly, how you can get involved in creating a vision for the future of Thames and Spring Street.

Get Involved

The City, their consultants and the Advisory Committee have been exploring ideas for the Thames & Spring Street Streetscape Improvement Project. Emerging ideas are now posted below. As the city continues to develop these alternatives over the next few weeks, they wanted to share this preview to see what you think. Join the conversation through EngageNewport.com and help us get ready for an upcoming Public Meeting where the City plans to share the final version of the alternatives and gain further feedback.

Over the next year, the community will come together through a variety of in-person and virtual forums to address pedestrian and bicycle access, parking, public spaces, lighting, stormwater runoff, and how to maintain the character of these two prominent and historic streets in Newport. We encourage you to check back often to see design options, find about the next public event, or learn more about the innovative concepts that could be applied to this corridor. We look forward to your participation and to collaborating with you on this important project!
